Participants in our first event held in 2011 had such a great time they tell us they can't wait to do it again!  The "Chi Cha" is like a duathlon event combining running and kayaking.  This event, while somewhat competative, is for FUN!!!  Registration will begin in Columbia’s River Park.  Participants will be transported to Vinegar Ferry Road and run along the river via the Northwest Trail and on through Marietta.  There, runners will take to the river aboard a kayak and finish downstream at Columbia.  We’ll be leaning on the expertise of Chiques Rock Outfitters to implement this new event.  This event is held rain or shine.  Due to the nature of this event, pre-registration is required and will be limited to the first 100 applicants. Directions to Columbia River Park (located off Front & Walnut Streets)

Enter this physical address for Columbia River Park: 10 Walnut St., Columbia PA 17512

Enter this physical address for Marietta River Park: Robert Mowder Dr., Marietta PA 17547

From the West (York area)

Rt. 30 to the Columbia/Marietta Rt. 441 Exit.  (You will see our Visitors Center at the end of the Exit.) 

Turn RIGHT onto Linden St. - Proceed to Traffic Light

Turn LEFT at traffic light at the Turkey Hill Experience

Go straight through next traffic light (Chestnut St.)

Continue one more block to Walnut Street - turn RIGHT onto Walnut.

Continue on Walnut passing 2nd St. and then across Front St. and over the Rail Road tracks.

The Columbia River Park will be ahead of you on the right.

From the East (Lancaster area)

Rt. 30 to the Columbia/Marietta Rt. 441 Exit.

Turn LEFT onto Rt. 441 South (which becomes Third St.)

Go straight through next two traffic lights (at Linden St. and Chestnut Streets)

Go one block to Walnut St., turn RIGHT onto Walnut St.

Continue on Walnut passing 2nd St. and then across Front St. and over the Rail Road tracks.
The Columbia River Park will be ahead of you on the right.

IF YOU WISH TO DROP OFF YOUR PERSONAL KAYAK at the Marietta Boat Launch (transition area from the Run to the Kayak portion)

Using the directions above, exit Rt. 30 East at the Columbia/Marietta Rt. 441 Exit.  Proceed North on Rt. 441 towards Marietta.

At the first traffic light (junction of Rt. 23) turn LEFT onto Market St. in Marietta. Turn LEFT onto Clay St., LEFT onto Hazel and then RIGHT onto Furnace Rd.  Furnace Road becomes Robert Mowder Rd and leads you into the boat launch area.  A Staff member from Chiques Rock Outfitters or the SCVCC will be at the river park at approximately 7 am.   PLEASE MARK - or make sure the staff member marks - YOUR KAYAK and PADDLE with your Bib tag number - we suggest duct tape and a sharpie marker. 

For those bringing their kayaks with them to the Columbia River Park, your kayak will be transported to Marietta for you.
